Behind the campSam Storey
The man behind the camp is Sam Storey — former professional boxer from Belfast, Ireland. He grew up in boxing at the Holy Family Golden Gloves Boxing Club in Belfast.
As an amateur he won every title in his category in Ireland and took silver at the 1982 Commonwealth Championships. He boxed for Ireland at the European Championships twice — as a junior and as a senior — and at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
As a professional: 31 bouts, 25 wins, 12 by KO. Irish professional middleweight champion. He was the first boxer in history to win the British super-middleweight title, the first to regain it, and the first to win the Lonsdale Belt outright at that weight. He challenged Chris Eubank for the WBO world title in 1994 and Henry Wharton for the European and Commonwealth titles.
He retired in 1997, working as a boxing analyst for Sky Sports and a columnist for the Sunday People. Today he lives in Murcia and runs the Totana Sparring Camp together with his wife Lisa and their children, Fionn and Blossom.
